The annual tea hosted by the Women of St. John’s Broad Creek was a huge success. Gwen Titus and John Bowman greeted guests at the door and provided tickets for door prizes. Each guest was assigned a specific table, so that, if possible, they would be seated with other people that they knew. This created a very friendly and comfortable environment.

The sold out event was very festive and a wonderful experience for all participants. Each table was individually decorated by a hostess who provided her own unique blend of hospitality to the occasion and was the official hostess for the guests at her table.

Refreshments at the tea were unique to the occasion.A delicious Apricot Tea and a Gatsby Blend were available at each table. Susan Pace, and Helen Ricketts joined Pam Ritter, Jean Eisenbrey, Sabra Montgomery, Kathy Mierke, Jean Anderson Jones, Jane Bowman, Kay Trotter, Edith Pulscak and Mary Chamberlain in preparing a variety of finger foods including scones, cakes, brownies, sandwiches, cookies and other delicious creations for the tea. In addition, Jean Anderson Jones created little red hat sugar cookies which were delightful; and there were also wonderful little cookies in the shape of tea pots and some very tasty strawberries.

Annual Tea
and Quilt Show

Ruth Ann Cumberland
, the Senior Warden opened the Tea.  She said that the Tea was a fundraiser for the refurbishing of the Addison Room, in the Church Hall.  The Rev. Marc Britt offered a prayer of thanksgiving for our many blessings.

Before the Tea, the guests viewed the Quilt Show by Cindy Herndon. Her quilts were admired by guests to the Tea. Her custom designed quilts were very unusual and displayed a great deal of talent. Parishioners and guests enjoyed themselves and were enthused by the very unusual quilt show by Cindy Herndon. These pictures show many of the participants enjoying the tea and the presentation by Cindy Herndon.

Cindy gave a talk on her quilting at the conclusion of the Tea. She said that quilting was a labor of love and her passion. She said she saw the beauty in nature that God had created and that it was her passion to recreate the beauty in her quilts. She said she likes to make each quilt a little different even if she is using a similar design. She held up a couple of her quilts which represented her attempt to recreate in quilts the beauty she saw in nature.  Cindy’s parents Jane and John Bowman were at the Tea along with her daughters Julie and Meredith Herndon.
